The world's longest, most inclusive relay

USING THE INTERACTIVE MAP

Use the right, left, top and bottom arrows bordering the interactive map to move around, click on any of the international zones which are highlighted with a box to zoom in. Click on "reset" at the bottom left of the map to display the world map in full.

To navigate around the map using the keyboard, use the following controls:
  • Pan to left, right, up and down with the arrow keys
  • Zoom in and out with the plus "+" and minus "-" keys
  • Tab steps you through the route from where the baton is today
You can jump to the Queens Baton Relay international zones by using the numeric keyboard as follows:
  • 1= Europe
  • 2 = Africa
  • 3 = North Americas
  • 4 = Caribbean
  • 5 = South Americas
  • 6 = Asia
  • 7 = Oceania
  • 0 = World view

BROWSER TYPES AND CHANGING THE SETTINGS

The following sections include information on how to determine if your browser is Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, or Mozilla Firefox. For each of these browsers there are step by step instructions to help you to:
  • change the colours of the text or background,
  • change the font type,
  • enable and/or disable javascript.
To determine what browser you are using, look at the very top of the screen:
  • If you are using Internet Explorer the text will be “M2006 > Queen's Baton Relay > Microsoft Internet Explorer”
  • If you are using Netscape the text will be “M2006 > Queen's Baton Relay > Netscape”
  • If you are using Opera the text will read “M2006 > Queen's Baton Relay > Opera”
  • If you are using Mozilla Firefox the text will be “M2006 > Queen's Baton Relay > Mozilla Firefox”
If you would like to change the colours of the text or background, the font type or enable and/or disable javascript, follow the instructions below for your browser type.

Note: Advanced users can create a style sheet to apply their preferences for colour and layout to the web pages in the browser.

INTERNET EXPLORER

Changing the text and background colours in Internet Explorer 5 and 6

1. Select ‘Internet Options’ from the ‘Tools’ menu.
2. Select the ‘General’ tab.
3. Click the ‘Colours’ button.
4. You can select the ‘Use Windows Colours’ option to use the colours that you have defined in the Windows Control Panel. If you deselect this option, you can select your own colours for the text and the background.

Note: If you change the colours significantly, such as to light coloured text on a dark background, you will also need to change the colours of the links, otherwise they may become invisible.

5. Click OK to close the colours dialogue box.
6. Click the ‘Accessibility’ button.
7. Select the relevant ‘Ignore’ options to force your preferences over the web page settings.
8. Click the OK button to close the ‘Accessibility’ dialogue box.
9. Click OK to close the ‘Internet Options’ dialogue box.

Setting the fonts in Internet Explorer 5 and 6

1. Select ‘Internet Options’ from the ‘Tools’ menu.
2. Click the ‘Fonts’ button.
3. Select the ‘Web page font’ and the ‘Plain text font’ as required.
4. Click the OK button to close the Fonts dialogue box.
5. Click the ‘Accessibility’ button.
6. Select the relevant ‘Ignore’ options to force your preferences over the web page settings.
7. Click the OK button to close the ‘Accessibility’ dialogue box.
8. Click the OK button to close the ‘Internet Options’ dialogue box.

Note: You can temporarily change the font size in the current browser session by selecting ‘Fonts’ from the ‘View’ menu. Select the size, from Largest to Smallest from the submenu.

Enable or disable javascript in Internet Explorer 5 and 6

1. Select ‘Internet Options’ from the ‘Tools’ menu.
2. Select the ‘Security’ tab.
3. Click the ‘Custom level’ button.
4. Scroll to the ‘Scripting’ section and select the relevant ‘Enable’ or ‘Disable’ radio buttons.
5. Click the OK button to close the dialog box.
6. A popup will ask whether you want to change the security settings. Click Yes.
7. Click the Apply button and click OK.

NETSCAPE

Changing the text and background colours in Netscape 6 and 7

1. Select ‘Preferences’ from the ‘Edit’ menu.
2. Select the ‘Colours’ option in the ‘Appearance’ section on the left-hand side.
3. Select the ‘Use system colours’ option to use the colours that you have defined in the Windows Control Panel. If you turn off this option, you can select your own colours for the text and the background.
4. To change the colour of an item, click the coloured buttons to display the ‘Colour’ dialog box.

Note: If you have changed the colour scheme significantly, such as light text on a dark background, you will also need to change the colours of the links, otherwise they may become invisible.

5. Click the box ‘Use my chosen colours’, ignoring colours specified.
6. Click OK to close the ‘Preferences’ dialogue box.

Setting the fonts in Netscape 6 and 7

1. Select ‘Preferences’ from the ‘Edit’ menu.
2. Select the ‘Fonts’ option in the ‘Appearance’ field on the left-hand side.
3. Select the type of font as required.
4. Change the size of the font as required.
5. Deselect the 'Allow documents to use other fonts' option.
6. Click the OK button to close the dialogue box.

Note: In addition setting the font size preferences, you can temporarily increase or decrease the font size in the current session by pressing 'CTRL -' to decrease the font size, or 'CTRL +' to increase the font size. This feature enables you to zoom in or out to make it easier to read the page.

Enable or disable javascript in Netscape 6 and 7

1. Select ‘Preferences’ from the ‘Edit’ menu.
2. Select the ‘Advanced’ option on the left-hand side.
3. Select or deselect the ‘Enable java’ and/or the ‘Enable javascript for Navigator’ checkboxes.
4. Click the OK button to close the dialog box.

OPERA

Changing the text and background colours in Opera 6 and 7

1. Select ‘Preferences’ from the ‘Tools’ menu.
2. Select the ‘Fonts’ field on the left-hand side.
3. Click the ‘Choose’ button
4. Click the ‘Colour’ section and select your preferred text colour.
5. Click the OK button to close the dialog box.
6. Select the ‘Page style’ option in the ‘Fonts’ field on the left-hand side.
7. Click the ‘Background Colour’ section and select your preferred background colour.
8. Click OK to close the ‘Preferences’ dialogue box.

Note: If you have changed the colour scheme significantly, such as light text on a dark background, you will also need to change the colours of the links, otherwise they may become invisible.

Setting the fonts in Opera 6 and 7

1. Select ‘Preferences’ from the ‘Tools’ menu.
2. Select the ‘Fonts’ field on the left-hand side.
3. Click the ‘Choose’ button
4. Click your preferred font and your preferred size.
5. Click the OK button to close the dialog box.

Alternately, you can select ‘Zoom’ from the ‘View’ menu and select your preferred percentage size.

Enable or disable javascript in Opera 6 and 7

1. Select ‘Preferences’ from the ‘Tools’ menu.
2. Select the ‘Multimedia’ option in the ‘Fonts’ field on the left-hand side.
3. Select or deselect the ‘Enable java’ and/or the ‘Enable javascript’ checkboxes.
4. Click the OK button to close the dialog box

MOZILLA FIREFOX

Changing the text, background colours and fonts in Mozilla Firefox 1

1. Select ‘Options’ from the ‘Tools’ menu.
2. Select the ‘General’ tab on the left-hand side.
3. Click the ‘Fonts’ and ‘Colours’ button.
4. You can select the ‘Use System colours’ option to use the colours that you have defined in the Windows Control Panel. If you turn off this option, you can select your own colours for the text and the background.
5. Click the ‘Colour’ section and select your preferred text colour.

6. Click your preferred font and your preferred size.
7. Select the ‘Always use my fonts’ and ‘Always use my colours’.
8. Click OK to close the ‘Options’ dialogue box.

1. Select ‘Options’ from the ‘Tools’ menu.
2. Select the ‘Web Features’ tab on the left-hand side.
3. Select or deselect the ‘Enable java’ and/or the ‘Enable javascript’ checkboxes.
4. Click OK to close the ‘Options’ dialogue box.
